Understanding Nevada Divorce

This will be the first post in my “Understanding Divorce” series. I’ve previously discussed the way in Nevada divorce impacts special needs children. I have decided to write a comprehensive series on Nevada divorce to address various issues which people will have to address as they move on to the next phase in their life.

Understanding the divorce process will make your Nevada case go more smoothly

When I began my Las Vegas family law practice, I quickly noticed how many of my clients approached their divorce without an understanding of what to expect. Many of the individuals I consulted with were hurt or angry with their partner, and were so focused on separating from their spouse that they never stopped to consider what life would be like during and after the divorce. Many of my clients were unprepared when they realized that divorce may mean less time with their children, paying their spouse monthly support, or learning to adjust in to a change in lifestyle.

Factors such as child custody, spousal support, or division of community property are all very real and difficult aspects of any divorce. While these factors are not necessarily a reason to stay with your current partner, it is important for an individual filling for divorce to be prepared for the road ahead.

A comprehensive overview of Nevada divorce

In my next several posts, I will be writing about what a person should consider and prepare for prior to filing for divorce. I will be addressing how to prepare yourself both emotionally and legally, will discuss how a divorce may impact your property, talk about what you ned to know about spousal support, child custody, and child support laws in Nevada, and finally, finish my series with a discussion on life post-divorce.

For many people, divorce is the right option for them, but that doesn’t make it any less difficult or complicated. If you live in the Las Vegas area and need more information about how your divorce will impact your life, call our office today.
