Judge doubting lawyerThis article is being written to conclude and recap my series on proving parental drug use in Las Vegas, Nevada child custody cases. I considered this an important topic to write on as parents are often unsure as to how they should proceed when they believe that their counterpart is using narcotics. This is understandable as one may be worried about the ramifications of going to Court without sufficient evidence to back up the claims. I wrote this series, therefore, with the goal of providing information which will help people to better understand their options. It has also been my goal to provide information which will assist with the selection of an attorney. If you are in need of assistance then contact my office today to speak with a lawyer.

I addressed a number of topics over my recent articles. Issues which I analyzed included the following:

There are multiple reasons why I chose to address these particular topics. First, Courts will often require drug testing if they believe there is a reason to do so. The parent will have to undergo testing, at a Court approved facility, immediately. Second, it can be necessary, especially in cases involving prescription narcotics, to establish a pattern of behavior. Discovery is an important tool for doing so. Third, when a parent has been arrested then the need to “prove” drug use is reduced for obvious reasons. It is important, however, to know how to proceed after an arrest. Finally, parents should understand their time with the child may be reduced if they are found to be making false claims about their counterpart.

An important point I made in each of these articles is that one should contact a family law attorney as soon as possible if they believe that their child is in danger. The longer one takes to initiate legal proceedings then the less likely the Court may be to view the matter as an emergency. I am a Las Vegas child custody lawyer who recognizes the seriousness of such situations. My office will work to give your case the attention it both needs and deserves.
